Courtyard Garden

A glass wall introduced as part of the remodelling of the kitchen brings the outside in, all day every day. The client, who was downsizing, wanted a practical outdoor space usable for relaxing, reading, having a coffee or glass of wine and entertaining, but which also provided a long season of interest and would look good

year-round.

The design introduced horizontal trellis screening to provide a modern feel while also offering practical support for climbing plants. Raised beds of different heights provide a change of level as well as allowing for greater planting depth. Exuberant planting for year-round interest ensures seasonal variation. A small tree brings added height, structure and a focal point. Carefully specified paving ensures a seamless transition from inside to out and links kitchen to garden effectively. Lighting brings the garden to life at night.
